Frequently Asked Questions

Enquiring minds want to know… I will try my best to answer but I also encourage you to do your own research just to be certain. Most answers will come from my own experience and research.

  1. What will the weather be like in April?
A: High will be mid-60s and low will be upper-40s.
  2. Will it rain?
A: There will certainly be rainy days but who knows which days. April is one of the best months of the year to visit.
  3. Is Florence safe?
A: Yes, there is a police presence everywhere—ambulances at all major sites. On busier days, there is even a military presence.
  4. Do I need a Visa to go to Italy?
A: Starting 2024 you will need to fill out the European Travel Information Authorization System (ETIAS). Google it when it comes live. It will take less than an hour to get approved and it will cost around $9 per person. ***Change on their website regarding visas to go to Europe: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias/what-etias_en
  5. Do I need to know Italian to get around?
A: No you do not, most people, especially the younger ones will speak English. Although, I would encourage you to learn basic Italian. It will go a long way when you can say “thank you”, “hello”, and “please”, in their language.
  6. On average, how much should plane tickets cost?
A: It can vary depending on the airlines and on the day you’re leaving. Right now, as of January 2024, prices are averaging from $ $1000-$1300. This is a roundtrip ticket cost from Seattle to Florence, so other cities will vary. I checked on Expedia for these prices, and these are for Delta and Air France.
  7. Where should I fly to?
A: Florence, Italy. The airport code is FLR. The airport’s name is Peretola.
  8. Will I need a car?
A: Nope. Florence is a walking city so be prepared to walk everywhere. Bring comfortable shoes.
  9. Where in Florence should I stay?
A: Look for deals in and around Florence’s Historic Center and from there you can walk to every location. Our wedding is going to be in and around Palazzo Vecchio so look for that on the map. Everything is within walking distance to the center which is where Palazzo Vecchio is located.
  10. On average how much will lodging cost?
A: I always use Booking dot com and they are showing up-to-date pricing on a lot of the properties during that time. At the moment, it’s ranging from $100-$200 per night. Important note, make sure you select “Private Bathroom” in your filter when searching. Also, always check the room size, European hotel rooms tend to be a smaller size.
  11. Air BnB?
A: On my last stay there, I also used Air BnB, and I had a whole apartment to myself in the middle of the city. I stayed there longer so it made sense. I would suggest checking all options, you might find a great deal that’s more accommodating for a family of four. The prices between Booking and Air BnB are comparable so I would definitely check both.
  12. Will my Debit CC work there?
A: Yes, as long as it has a Visa or Mastercard logo, they accept it everywhere. Important note, do not use an ATM unless it’s an emergency, the fees are ridiculously high. My suggestion, bring some cash with you and you can exchange it for Euros at multiple locations within the city.
  13. Should I get insurance for my trip?
A: Yes. With so many uncertainties I would highly suggest protecting your trip and getting insurance. For example, when you book with Expedia, they will always ask you to insure your trip. It’s a small price to pay for that peace of mind.
  14. At a minimum, how many days should I prepare for the wedding?
A: One. We will only ask for one day from you for our wedding celebration. Unless you’re part of the wedding, there is the traditional wedding dinner rehearsal the night before. For the fellas, if you’re in Florence on Monday, April 1st, I will have a guys’ night out to hang out and drink.
  15. Will we have an itinerary for the wedding?
A: Yes, but since I’m producing the wedding, I want everything to be a surprise. All you have to do is show up with an open heart, and an empty stomach, and be ready to drink. Everyone will be walking to the multiple venues and walking back home at the end of the night.
  16. What should I wear?
A: Dress nicely, please—no tie for men but possibly a jacket. Be comfortable. We’re here to have fun. It’s going to be laid back and fun.
  17. Should I bring a gift?
A: If you are giving, we would prefer cash so we don’t have to carry it around with us on our honeymoon.

I will continue to add more as we get closer to the date. Also, if there are any specific questions you may have that need to be answered before booking please feel free to call me.
